If the page goes completely blank, that's almost always a PHP error. If you uncomment the two error reporting lines of code in the module, near the top, this will cause errors to be displayed instead of just a blank page. Remember to comment them out again when you're done! If the error you get doesn't suggest the problem to you, post it here and I'll take a look.

For now I am happy with the way I am using the suffix, will keep you posted if I go back to the modules own templating The snow? Thats from YOOtheme, a module called YOOholidays

The module class suffix simply passes that value on to JomSocial and/or Joomla. The module itself does not use it.
